Hello and welcome back to the final week of my blog! Since this is the final week, I will be reflecting on this week and the project as a whole. I made the decision to have a more complete final product, so I ended up turning the blanket into a scarf. I will discuss this more in the next paragraph.
This week I did not due that much knitting due to the fact that I made the decision to turn the blanket into a scarf. I made this decision because I wanted to be able to present a complete final product and having a blanket done by this point was probably a little too ambitious as well. Part of the issues that I had throughout this project which led me to this point was the fact that I started over around week five, and I accidentally made my rows too long. This was something that I did not discover until I was taking the scarf off of the knitting needles. If I had gauged this better in the beginning, the rows would have been faster to knit, and I may have also ended up with a blanket instead. If I were to start this project over again, I think that I would have simplified my goal more because it was rather ambitious. When I began with the pattern, I struggled to follow it and continue feeling motivated, and things were a lot easier after I decided not to do a pattern. This also ended up slowing my progress since I had to start over from scratch, but I was a lot more motivated that time. I also made the rows a lot longer, as I mentioned above, but I did not realize the magnitude of this until today. The scarf is taller than me, and I do not know if I should donate it now since it is quite large. I also ran out of my third ball of yarn, so I had to improvise by using another ball of yarn that I had, and the colors do not blend as well as they could. Overall, I have learned a lot throughout this project, and I am glad that I was able to have the experience and learn more about myself. I struggled with patience and motivation throughout this project, but I think that they have improved more throughout the process. I am glad that I was able to share this experience will you all. You can see a picture of the final product below.

Hello and welcome back to the eleventh week of my blog! This week I have been feeling very motivated which is good, but with the project ending soon, I need to do some decision making. Feel free to read the details of this in the next paragraph. This week’s knitting fact is that during the Second World War the Office of Censorship banned people from posting knitting patterns internationally in case if they contained coded messages.
This past week I have managed to knit everyday after school because I have not had much work to do. I feel motivated when I think about how much work I have been putting in this week. I made a small mistake this week when I accidentally undid a stitch on a previous row, but I think that I managed to fix it. Other than that there were no problems this week. I said earlier that I had some decisions to make. I do not think that it will be possible to get the blanket long enough to actually be a blanket within the remaining time of this project, so I am feeling conflicted about what to do. I can either make it a scarf which means that I will have a more complete final product, or I can still make it a blanket. If I did this the blanket wouldn’t be complete in the remaining weeks though, and I would have to present an unfinished product. I would then continue to work on the blanket after the project is over. Either way, I intend to donate the final product to somebody who needs it more than me. Feel free to leave your opinions in the comments below to help me decide. Overall, I am feeling good about this project at the moment, and I have definitely learned a lot along the way. This week turned out to be productive, and I hope that the next week will be as as well. See you next week! Hello and welcome back to this week's blog post! I hope you all have enjoyed your Thanksgiving break as much as I have. I was able to make a good amount of progress in the blanket since I wasn't that busy over the break. I also encountered some issues which I will explain more about in the next paragraph. This week's knitting fact is that between the years 2002 and 2004, the amount of women who knit in the U.S. between the ages of 25–35 increased almost 150%!
This past week I have made a good amount of progress. I used up all of the yarn in the second ball that I had been using, and I have moved onto a third ball of yarn. I am thankful that I was able to start another ball of yarn because the other one was very knotted, and I would have to untangle it quite frequently. That was one of the issues that I had this week, and the other issue that I experienced was the yarn slipping off of the needles because I was moving too fast without making sure that the yarn was in place. I was able to fix this issue by carefully putting the yarn back onto the needles. Knitting the blanket was also a generally tedious task, and there were times where I did not want to be working on it anymore. Sometimes I would take a break or stop for that time, or I would use the idea of starting another row on the blanket as motivation. Overall, this week was good for making progress, and I am glad that we had time off. The break from school helped me to gain motivation for this project. That is all for this week, but I will update you again next week!! Hello and welcome back to my blog. I have been hard at work on the blanket this weekend, and I am excited to work on it a bunch more over Thanksgiving Break! This week's knitting fact is that there are three basic types of knitting needles: the normal style that you are probably used to seeing, double ended/pointed needles, and circular knitting needles. For this project I have been using circular knitting needles so that all of my yarn can fit on the needles.
This week has been a pretty standard week of knitting, I did not encounter any problems this week while I was knitting, but I did notice that there are a few spots towards the beginning of the blanket where there are gaps in the yarn. I think that this is because I was knitting the yarn too loosely, but I have gotten pretty good at gauging the tightness since then. At the moment I am not sure that I will have a complete blanket by the time this project is over, but I will try my best to work extra hard on it. It may not end up being a normal person's length, but I may be able to make it into a baby blanket instead. On a more positive note, working on the blanket has gotten easier, and it seems to go by faster each time I work on it. I think that something I need to keep in mind for the next few weeks is that I need to work on having motivation and being productive which will put me in the mind-set for getting work done. That is all for this week, and I hope you all enjoyed this week's update. I need to keep working hard on my blanket, but that is about it. Have a lovely Thanksgiving break, and I'll update you more next week!! Hello and welcome back to my blog! This week I have made some progress on the blanket, and the long weekend is really helping with that! I have also learned some things which you can read about in the next paragraph. This week's knitting fact is that the world's largest knitting needles are 25 pounds each, and they are 13 feet tall!
This week I knitted a few more rows onto the blanket, and I plan on knitting even more after I publish this blog post. I was able to get the stitches to a good amount of tension on the needles, so that the yarn is not too hard to work with. I have been able to knit without any issues because of this, the only exception to this would be that some of the yarn slides completely off of the needles if I pull it too tight, but it is usually a pretty simple thing to fix. Earlier today I was adjusting the position of the yarn on my needles when about ten stitches slipped off of the needles, and I had to find a way to fix them without messing up the blanket. This was a lot more stitches to fix than what I had fixed in the past, so I had to slow down and try not to worry too much because I could have messed up if I was moving at a faster pace when I put the stitches back on. This experience has taught me to be cautious about things so that I do not make these kinds of mistakes in the first place, and it has taught me to calm down whenever I need to figure something out or else I could make the situation worse. Overall, this has been a good week, and I am excited to keep working on my blanket. I have also learned some valuable lessons through my experiences, like calming down and being careful. I can't wait to update you guys next week! Hello and welcome back to my blog! This week I have made some pretty good progress on the blanket! I have also made some good realizations this week while I was knitting. You can read more about the details of this week in the next paragraph. This week's knitting fact is that the world's fastest knitter can knit 118 stitches in one minute!
This week I knitted a few rows on the blanket, and they ended up taking longer than I thought they would since the rows are so long now. Luckily, it didn't really bother me, and I still enjoyed working on it. I had to start using another ball of yarn, because I had used up all of the yarn on the yarn ball that I had originally been using. I thought that this was a good reflection on my progress on the blanket. There were not any big issues this week with the blanket, but I could probably work on being more consistent with the tightness of my stitches. I also should work on picking up the pace more, and on finding more time to work on the blanket. Sometimes I am busy so I feel like there is no time to work on it, but if I can work on it while watching TV or when I am bored, I think that will help. The blanket is definitely not where it should be for week 7, but the progress is decent considering the fact that I started over two weeks ago. Overall, this week I have realized that patience is important when knitting, because it is a tedious activity. It can take a long time to knit a blanket but by doing a little everyday, I will be able to make some good progress. Other than that I have been feeling pretty good about this project, and I look forward to updating you next week! Hello and welcome back to Week 6 of my blog! This is the halfway point of my project, and I would say that I have a lot of work to do for the rest of this project. I have enjoyed working on the blanket this week though, so now I will update you on my progress. Also the knitting fact for this week is that for the first four or five hundred years of knitting’s history, people would knit more with cotton or silk instead of wool.
This week I have made some decent progress on the blanket. I knitted about a row and a half of the blanket. Each row is taking longer than it did before I started over, which is because I made the blanket longer this time. This isn't really an issue, but it means that I need to work on the blanket more frequently than I did this past week so that I am able to make some more progress. Knitting has been pretty stress free though since I no longer have to focus on a pattern and can relax a little more. I also didn't make many mistakes this past week. The only mistake that I made was when I was trying to move the yarn to a higher position on the knitting needles and the yarn actually came off of the end of one of the needles. Luckily, I was able to slide the yarn back on without ruining anything. This week I have learned that I need to work on time management, and that I should focus on being more patient to avoid making mistakes. Overall, this week has been decently productive and I am feeling good about the blanket. I look forward to continuing my progress on it! That is all for now, but I will update you for next week! Hello and welcome back to the fifth week of my blog! This week has brought some changes in my progress on this project. I have also learned some things, which you can read about below. This week's knitting fact is that knitting can act as a natural antidepressant and it can help to ease anxiety, depression, and chronic pain.
Lately I have not been very happy with the progress I have been making, and the fact that I kept messing up with my pattern. This led to me not being very motivated to work on it, so I decided to start over. That means I will have to put a lot of work in, but because of this I have also decided that I'm just going to knit the blanket normally instead of doing the pattern I originally intended on doing. I think this will be best for me because that will be pretty hard to mess up, and it will help to make me feel less stressed and overwhelmed because I don't have to focus as much on what I am doing. I have realized that wanting to do a pattern might have been a little over my head, and without the pattern I can relax a little more so that I am still enjoying myself. This week I have learned that time management is important, and I am going to have to be very good at that since I am starting over. I have also learned that sometimes I just need to stop and think so that I am able to do things that will be better for me in the long run. Overall, I have learned a lot this week, and I have a longways to go in the weeks to come. That is all for this week, and I look forward to updating you will my progress. Hello and welcome back to my blog!! This week I have been busy with homework and other things, but I have managed to get some time in for knitting my blanket. This weeks knitting fact is that one of the earliest examples of knitting was a pair of cotton socks that were found in Egypt from the early AD years. I have encountered a few problems this week, which you can read about in the paragraph below.
This week was a very busy week for me, which meant that blanket progress was slow. I did some work on it today though, and it is looking pretty decent. An issue that I have encountered is that every row I knit is always off by a few stitches. That is not good, and I'm either messing up a lot on each row, or I accidentally did something earlier on that made the stitch count off for the next few rows. I'm still continuing to knit the blanket even though the stitches are off, and I'm hoping the problem can be fixed. I also didn't fully remember what row I was on while I was knitting today, but I was pretty sure, so that might have been the problem. If it still looks okay in a few rows I think I will just keep going. I have been doing pretty good at loosening the stitches, but the blanket is still a little lopsided. For this next week, I have learned that I need to pay attention to see what the problem is with my pattern, and I need to write down where I left off so that I am able to continue the blanket with no issues. I should also just continue to loosen my stitches each row. That is all for this week's blog post! I encountered a few bumps along the road, but hopefully I will be able to fix the problems I have had. Goodbye, and I'll update you guys next week! Hello and welcome back to my blog! This week is week number 3, and I have made some progress on knitting my blanket. This week's knitting fact is that knitting was initially a male-only occupation, which is kind of surprising because when I think of knitting I always think of older women. Anyways, this week I encountered a few issues, but I was able to fix them for the most part.
This week I managed to work on my blanket more than I had in the previous weeks. I was able to manage my time more efficiently, and when I had extra time to watch TV or something like that I would knit at the same time. I also worked on loosening my stitches like I mentioned in last week's blog post so that the blanket does not turn out lopsided. I encountered a slight problem when I was working on my blanket on Wednesday, because the yarn had gotten really tangled and I couldn't untangle it. To fix this problem I cut the yarn and retied it once I got the knot untied. Another problem that occurred was that the pattern got messed up sometime along the row I was working on today. I was very upset about this, but to kind of fix the issue I ended the pattern like it was supposed to end initially in hopes that it will make the next row line up a little better. I have learned that I should focus more on what I'm doing so that I don't mess up again and ruin the blanket. I also need to continue to work on time management because that is something that I really struggle with, but it has been getting better. This week has been a good learning experience, and I now know that I should focus more on my pattern so that I don't mess it up again. Hopefully it will all look fine in the end though. Come back next week for another update on my progress! |
